When Royal Mail changed their pricing structure, Marie Curie Cancer Care's daffodil bulb pack became too expensive to mail. They needed to find another way to recruit new supporters.
A heartfelt appeal, sent directly to the donor from a Marie Curie Nurse. Special touches like a hand-stamped envelope and a letter 'typed' on writing paper helped make the appeal feel even more personal. But most importantly, a note card was enclosed so the donor could write their own message of support to a Marie Curie Nurse or a patient and return it with their gift.
The new appeal achieved a better ROI than the 'bulb banker pack'. Success.
